Public speaking is scary

This September, on World Suicide Prevention Day, I will speak to a crowd of 300-ish people at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne University….wait a minute, I’m going to do what?!

That’s what I said. I am going to share my story, and Evan’s story, at a campus event to bring awareness to suicide prevention. I received this invitation from a faculty member (shout out to Dean Norman!) who read my article on CNN. But public speaking is scary, right?!

Indeed it is. I’m equal parts nervous and excited, but this is a great opportunity to talk about how we can all do better to help the people we care about.

I’ll be busy prepping and practicing, so wish me luck!

You will be just fine Erin. I wish I could be there to listen to your talk. You are so strong to get up there and talk about Suicide Prevention. I still get teary and emotional talking to friends and strangers about my experience with my sister’s suicide.

All the best and thank you for speaking, I know you will be great.

** If they do record on video or audio can you please post? I would love to listen to it.

    Take care Erin,

Brian – thank you so much! I will share the presentation if it is available. I appreciate your reading and commenting. The tears sneak up on when I talk about Evan, when I think I won’t cry I do and vice versa. But sharing and having someone listen can be so healing.
